Running workshops from Instagram DMs is not a system.
Kavitha runs beautiful weekend craft workshops from her studio in Koramangala. Pottery, candle-making, macramé, watercolour — every batch fills up quickly because the experience is genuinely wonderful. But her registration process was held together with hope and WhatsApp.
When she posted about a workshop, interested people would DM her. She'd reply to each one individually, send them a UPI link, wait for the payment screenshot, confirm their spot, and add them to a WhatsApp group — all manually, for every single attendee, for every workshop.
She regularly had double bookings because she lost track of who had actually paid versus who had just said they would. She had no waitlist system. She had no way to know in advance how many people were coming. And she had zero presence on Google — people looking for workshops in Bengaluru couldn't find her at all.
